Ofqual guidance for centres: awarding of vocational, technical and other general qualifications in summer 2021
Published:Monday 24 May 2021
Ofqual has published a blog about VTQ awarding in 2021, along with guidance for centres on awarding vocational and technical qualifications (VTQs) this summer.
The guide explains how VTQs and other general qualifications will be awarded this summer and what schools and colleges can expect to happen over the coming weeks.
The arrangements we have in place for grade submissions, quality assurance, results days and appeals processes will be the same as for GCSEs, AS and A-levels - we won’t need you to work in different ways, across different qualifications.
You’ll need to submit your students’ grades to us by 18 June and students will receive their results on 10 August (level 3 VTQs) and 12 August (level 1/2 VTQs). See our key dates timeline for what needs to happen and when.
We’ll also carry out sampling for our non-general, vocational, technical and other qualifications once grades have been submitted. We’re still finalising our approach and will publish the arrangements on our quality assurance webpage soon.
In the meantime, schools should continue to gather and keep any evidence used to determine the grades.
