AS and A-level Business: updated specification and new resources available

In March 2023, we announced the changes we’re introducing to our AS and A-level Business specification (7131, 7132) for first teaching in September 2023.
From this September, and based on your feedback, we’ve removed the additional models and theories from the subject content to make the specification more manageable for you to teach and for your students to learn. The structure of the papers and the types of questions in the exam will remain the same.

We have also created new and updated resources to reflect the changes and support your teaching and learning.
The changes will apply to first AS exams in summer 2024 and A-level exams in summer 2025.
Curriculum Connect sessions
To help you understand the changes in more detail, we’re running free online Curriculum Connect sessions on 5 and 12 July. At these sessions, we’ll walk you through the updated specification and where to find the materials to support your teaching. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions. New and updated resources
We’ve created new and updated resources to support first teaching and learning from this September:
- Download our newly published range of student responses (answers and commentaries) on Centre Services. The exemplars have responses to questions from past papers, all with commentaries from an examiner to demonstrate how to apply the mark scheme.
- Access updated resources to match the newly updated specification.
- Take a look at Exampro business to help your students understand what is expected of them, and build their confidence using real exam questions – you can search, create, save and print or set onscreen assignments.
