GCSE English Language: spoken language endorsement (8700/C) for November 2022
Published: Tuesday 30 Aug 2022
For the November 2022 series only, the same conditions applied in summer 2022 for the GCSE English Language spoken language endorsement will apply in November 2022 – see changes for 2022.
As a re-cap, for November 2022 exams:
- there’s no requirement to submit a sample of audio-visual recordings for spoken language assessments
- the spoken language assessment can take place in front of a single teacher who can represent an ‘audience’
- the spoken language assessment can be conducted at any time during the course and by virtual means.
You’ll still need to submit a centre declaration sheet as normal for this component. The declaration sheet for the November series will be available on our website in September.
Exams back to normal for summer 2023
In May 2022 the Department for Education (DfE) and Ofqual confirmed the arrangements for subject content in GCSE, AS and A-levels and non-exam assessment (NEA) in qualifications taking place in the 2022–2023 academic year.
For students taking exams in summer 2023, the usual arrangements for NEA are now in place. Read about the arrangements for summer 2023.
