GCSE Religious Studies A and Short course: small change to question papers

Published: Friday 10 Nov 2023

We’re always looking for ways we can improve our qualifications. Last summer, we noticed that more students than usual did not attempt the second ‘Themes’ question for our Short course (8061) qualification.

We want to support our learners, so we’re making a small change to the format of some papers from summer 2024. This change will help students to access the whole paper more easily.

On all Short course papers (8061/1-5), questions 1.3 and 1.4 have previously appeared on the same page. Equally, on GCSE Religious Studies A papers (8062/11-17), questions 1.3 and 1.4, and also 2.3 and 2.4, have appeared on the same page.

From summer 2024, these questions will each have their own page.

We’ll also add an extra rubric reminder to 8061/5 about turning the page over for Theme B, and the blank page that appeared previously will be removed.

We hope that this small formatting change will enable all students to easily access the full question paper.
