Get ready to mark NEA for summer 2022

Published: Thursday 18 Nov 2021

With changes to exams and assessments for 2022, and with no external moderation since the 2019 exams series, we know that many of you will be needing a refresher on standardising marking for non-exam assessment (NEA).

Through research we’ve found that schools and colleges that complete our teacher standardisation are often less likely to have their centre-assessed marks adjusted through the process of moderation.

To help you prepare, we strongly advise all teachers marking centre-assessed components to complete teacher online standardisation on Centre Services before they start marking assessments. You can access online standardisation at any time, simply login to Centre Services and follow the link for ‘Pre-exams’.

In Centre Services, you can see sample work that’s been marked by the Lead Moderator. You mark it yourself, and then compare your marks with the marks and comments of the Lead Moderator. This will enable you to approach NEA marking with confidence.

While standardising on current material, you can also search for other pieces of marked work to view exemplars of previous standardised material.

For more details see teacher online standardisation. You could also listen to our podcast AQA | Inside Exams | Standardisation: super-standardise me. And don’t forget if you need any support you can get in touch with your NEA adviser.
