1. identify and collect the necessary ingredients: flour, salt, margarine, cooking fat, cold water

2. identify and collect the necessary equipment: a bowl, a sieve, a knife, a blender, a jug, a spoon, a dredger

3. sift the flour into the bowl

4. add the fats, cut up and blend with a fork until the mixture is like breadcrumbs

5. add the cold water and bind with a knife and then fingers until the mixture blends together

6. flour the table and place the pastry onto the table and make into a tidy round shape

7. flour the rolling pin and roll out the pastry into the shape needed

8. leave the area clean and tidy.
