demonstrated the ability to

1. make at least two contributions of some detail to a discussion or role play

2. speak audibly and be comprehensible for most of the discusssion or role play

3. listen to others and respond appropriately with some detail on at least two occasions

4. begin to use spoken Standard English where appropriate

5. follow the main points in a discussion or role play and show that they have done so, eg by responding correctly to questions

6. convey meaning using simple vocabulary that generally suits a given situation and audience.
