INTRODUCTION TO FRACTIONS

Level: Entry Level

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to 1. recognise half, third, quarter, fifth and tenth fractions as an equal part of a regular shape	Student completed work
2. recognise half, third, quarter, fifth and tenth fractions when written numerically	Student completed work
3. match the symbols 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, and 1/10, to the correct picture representation	Student completed work
4. divide a regular shape into equal parts of halves and quarters	Student completed work
5. record fractions in a written format	Student completed work
shown knowledge of 6. the fact that a whole fraction can be made up of a given number of equal parts	Student completed work
7. the fact that the bottom number of a fraction shows into how many equal parts the shape is divided, eg 2 in 1/2.	Student completed work
