demonstrated the ability to

1. select a Bunsen burner, bench mat, tripod, gauze, eye protector, thermometer and beaker of cold water

2. set the equipment up in a manner suitable for heating water

3. light the Bunsen burner safely

4. adjust the flame

5. heat water to a temperature in excess of 40º centigrade

6. turn off the Bunsen burner safely.
