In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. take part in a preliminary briefing session on scuba equipment use and theory

2. learn at least five underwater hand signs, eg ok, stop, ascend, descend, problem

3. form working groups of three when requested to do so

4. prepare scuba equipment for pool session use, with instruction where necessary

5. enter the swimming pool safely

6. put on scuba equipment safely and as instructed, with assistance where necessary

7. take part in a pre-session review of equipment used and hand signals

8. carry out an underwater skill, eg remove and replace regulator

9. use the scuba equipment appropriately in order to perform an underwater lap of the swimming pool, with assistance if necessary

11. put forward at least one appropriate suggestion for improving the course
