- Scrutineer – International GCSE Islamiat (closing date 13/10/2025)

We’re looking for a Scrutineer for the OxfordAQA International GCSE Islamiat specification.
This is a contractual role; you’ll be paid approximately £100 per paper for your work. The role can be carried out entirely from home and there is no travel or meeting attendance required.
What you’ll do
You’ll test draft assessments from the perspective of a student to ensure that the assessments are complete, valid and appropriate. You will sit the question paper under exam conditions and provide written feedback to the assessment team.In your application’s personal statement, please provide evidence of:
- Thorough knowledge of GCSE Islamiat or related subject content, such as A-level or GCSE Religious Studies.
- Ability to empathise with students and understand how they respond to assessments.

- Lead Assessment Writer– International GCSE Combined Science Chemistry (closing data 13/10/2025)
Are you an experienced teacher or examiner with an in depth understanding of GCSE Chemistry, who is ready to take the next step in your professional development?

AQA are an educational charity committed to helping students and teachers realise their potential. We’re looking for a Lead Assessment Writer to create high quality assessment materials for International GCSE Combined Science (9204) – Chemistry, (9204/CC and 9204/CE).
What you’ll do
You’ll play a key role in the question paper production process by creating high quality question papers and mark schemes which reflect the requirements set out in a brief.
This role can be worked flexibly and can be carried out alongside full time teaching commitments. There are two series a year (June and November), meaning the workload would be spread evenly throughout the year. You would be required to attend up to 10 meetings which will be held remotely.
In your applications personal statement, please provide evidence of:
- Excellent knowledge of GCSE Chemistry (domestic or international).
- Experience of writing a range of questions in an education setting and a comprehension of what makes a good question paper and mark scheme.
- Your ability to work independently and to write to a brief.

This role can be worked flexibly and is designed to be carried out alongside full-time teaching commitments.
You will be required to attend approximately 5 meetings throughout the year, most of which will be held remotely.
What you’ll do
You’ll check assessment materials to ensure that they are error free and meet their purpose as outlined in the planning phase. You will proof read and report on question papers to ensure the standard is appropriate for the target audience of international students and fulfils the demands of the specification and assessment objectives.
An annually contracted role. Reviser duties occur during the course of the year.

- Current or recent teaching experience (within the last 2 years), and excellent knowledge of GCSE English Language.
- A sound understanding of good assessment practices.

This role can be worked flexibly but will require a larger time commitment than other senior associate positions, due to the scale and profile of the role.
You will be required to attend several meetings throughout the year (approximately 10-12 per year), most of which will be held remotely.
What you’ll do
You’ll oversee the development of question papers and mark schemes, ensuring they are of the highest quality and provide fair, reliable assessment. Leading a team of senior associates, you’ll guide the review and refinement of assessment materials, balancing deadlines with the need for consistent standards.
Beyond paper production, you’ll play a key role in supporting and influencing the quality of marking, assisting with setting the standard in a series, helping to resolve escalations and ensuring robust processes are in place. Your work will be essential in delivering assessments that meet the needs of both students and teachers.

- Expertise in GCSE English Language and an in-depth knowledge of assessment, with a sound understanding of curriculum requirements.

Paper production
For some specifications, whole papers are planned, drafted, agreed and managed from beginning to end.
Exam delivery
Our exams and non-exam assessments (NEA) are marked by 30,000 examiners and moderators. Progress and quality is monitored by groups of associates, starting with standardisation and regular checking of marking through to awarding – where grade boundaries are set and applied to each student’s mark.
