Professional Development
Learning opportunities and training designed to enhance skills and knowledge.
What is in-school training?
Training sessions run locally for schools/colleges, Local Authorities, clusters/consortia/MATS – we come to you.
Our trainers bring a wealth of experience to you, based on their teaching backgrounds and time working with us at AQA.
How can we help?
We offer a range of courses/training to suit your needs:
- In-school versions of courses already offered by AQA
- Sessions tailored to meet your particular needs, utilising existing resources available
- Introduction to the specification
- Specific guidance for teachers such as assessment guidance, supporting coursework or controlled assessment
- Discussion of your training needs if they are more complex.
Where are they held?
In-school sessions are a flexible way to train and can be delivered in various venues, including:
- your school/college
- a cluster/consortium/federation of schools/colleges/MATs
- a Local Authority
- online
You have the flexibility to arrange a session for a whole department, group of teachers or managers. The recommended maximum number for a session is 30.
How long do they last?
In-school support sessions can be either a full day (approx. 5 hours) or half day/twilight (approx. a minimum of 2.5 hours). These are charged on a sliding scale dependent upon the number of delegates present. Timings are flexible to suit your needs.
What cannot be supported?
We are not able to provide the following during the course of an In-school session:
- support sessions for your students
- review of your candidates’ scripts for any past examination series
- marking of or guidance on your candidates’ coursework, portfolio or controlled assessment work
- a review of moderated coursework
Where appropriate for a session focused on assessment, the trainer will draw on exemplar material rather than your pupils’ work.
Ofqual do not allow Principal or Chief Examiners, or any other senior examiners who have access to confidential materials, to be present at any training event.
Prices
In-school training sessions are charged on a sliding scale, based on the number of delegates attending and the length of the course.
