Submit marks/grades
Here you will find information about how and when you need to submit your marks, as well as how to request a carry forward.
Information and resources for exams officers to plan ahead and stay on track throughout the whole exams lifecycle, from entries to results day.

Here you will find information about how and when you need to submit your marks, as well as how to request a carry forward.
Extensions to the mark/grade submission deadline can be applied for online via Centre marks submission (CMS) once the series is open. Extensions are only granted for extenuating circumstances.
Please help us to ensure your students' results are accurate. Make sure you check that:
Marks/grades can be submitted on CMS for every centre marked component except GCSE and A-level Physical Education which are submitted via an excel spreadsheet (detailed below)
The table above shows when CMS opens for each series.
For every centre marked component except GCSE and A-level Physical Education, you can still choose to submit marks/grades in EDI files using JCQ’s transport application. Your marks will transfer to CMS and be visible in Centre marks submission Input marks/grades screen as soon as we have successfully processed your EDI file.
Even if you use EDI, you will need to formally submit your marks/grades on CMS by clicking the ‘Submit to AQA’ button. Where applicable CMS will then generate your moderation sample.
A new PE spreadsheet is published each year and can be downloaded from the 'Resources' section of Centre Services.
Fill in your candidate and activity details, plus a breakdown of your marks. Email the spreadsheet to CentreMarks@aqa.org.uk and to your allocated moderator.
You must submit your spreadsheet at least two weeks before your moderation visit.
When a student re-takes a linear qualification which includes non-exam assessment (NEA) or an Endorsement, they may request a carry forward of the mark/grade for the component rather than repeating the assessment.
Carry forward doesn't apply to modular qualifications (eg Applied General qualifications). Results for modular units are used as necessary when an award is claimed – it is not necessary to re-enter the unit and request a carry forward.
Basic principles
Students can carry forward their endorsement grade, even if they sat the original exam with a different board. The most recent attempt will be carried forward, even if it is 'not classified' or not the best attempt.
7201/C or X, 7202/C or X, 7203/C or X, 7204/C or X, 7205/C or X, 7206/C or X.
Within each title, students can carry forward their moderated mark for one of the two NEA components from a previous attempt. The other component must be re-taken.
If there is more than one previous attempt, the most recent non-absent mark is used.
Students are not permitted to carry forward from the exceptional autumn 2020 or autumn 2021 series (7201/XE, 7202/XE, 7203/XE, 7204/XE, 7205/XE, 7206/XE).

Step 1: Indicate the loss on Centre Marks Submission (always)
For internally-assessed work, the 'loss of coursework' special status must be selected using the drop down list on the Centre marks submission (CMS) mark input screen. You can't indicate that work is lost using EDI mark submissions.
Step 2: Choose one of the options below
If the work was marked before being lost you should also input the mark alongside the ‘loss of coursework’ status. The candidate will not be selected as part of the sample. You do not need to do anything else.
If the work was not marked before being lost and the school is responsible for the loss
Do not input numerical mark (eg. a zero) on Centre Marks Submission (CMS). Exams officers should request special consideration for a student via Centre Services provided that the school or college is:
Where possible the student should be given the opportunity to reproduce their missing work.
If the work was not marked before being lost and the student is responsible for the loss
Work that has been lost or damaged as a consequence of student negligence is not eligible for special consideration. You should input a mark of zero for the candidate.
