Centre closures

If your centre is closing down, you need to let us know so that we can support you through the closures process. Here are the steps you need to follow.

Get in touch

Let us know that you are going to close by emailing centreapproval@aqa.org.uk with the heading: Centre Closure and your centre number.

Where possible, you should email from your registered centre email address (usually your Exams Officer’s) and include your Head of Centre details. This will allow us to verify your request.

Provide key information

We'll then send you a form that you'll need to fill in.

The closure process can take time to complete, so please contact us as soon as you are aware of any circumstances that may lead to your centre closure.

Please see our further guidance, including some important information you need to consider.

Next steps

Our guidance will depend on where you are in the exams cycle.

N.B. this process does not cover temporary closures (e.g. due to a local emergency) which should be handled according to a centre’s own contingency procedures.
