1. select an image suitable for converting to black and white values

2. use computer software to convert the image to black and white

3. use computer software to decrease the black value to a light grey

4. print out the chosen image

5. use a ruler and pencil to mark out a grid on the image of at least 12 by 15 squares

6. select the colour medium, eg felt pens, coloured pencils or acrylic paint

7. select a starting point and block fill grey areas within the squares in dark colours and white areas within the squares in light colours

8. add a pattern and design to the dark areas by overlaying in light colours

9. add a pattern and design to the light areas by overlaying in dark colours

10. mount the finished artwork
