SAFELY INVESTIGATING THE RESISTANCE OF A WIRE

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. select the appropriate apparatus, eg connecting leads, ammeter, voltometer, to measure the resistance of at least three different lengths of wire

2. use a circuit diagram to set up a suitable circuit to measure the current and voltage of at least two different lengths of wire

3. safely move a crocodile clip in 10cm increments along a length of wire, recording the effect this has on the ammeter and voltmeter readings

4. identify the potential safety hazards in this investigation and explain how they worked safely to avoid them
