MAKING A MODEL STEAM ENGINE

Level: Level One

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to 1. identify the materials needed to make a model steam engine from given drawings and information sheets	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
2. use the materials, component drawings and information sheets to follow instructions to construct a model steam engine	Student completed work and/or photograph(s)
3. safely use hand tools, eg hacksaw, files, scriber, rule, and engineers square	Summary sheet
4. state the safety precautions to be followed when using given machine, ie lathe, pillar drill, and milling machine	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
shown knowledge of 5. the main health and safety requirements when in a workshop environment	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
6. the correct use of given workshop equipment	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
7. two units of measurement, ie millimetres and centimetres	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
