INTRODUCTION TO WOODTURNING

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to 1. dress appropriately to use the woodturning lathe	Summary sheet
2. prepare the piece of wood for turning, ie drill a centre or mandrel hole, prior to fitting it to the lathe	Summary sheet
3. identify two safety hazards when using a woodturning lathe	Summary sheet
4. name three types of turning tool and give a use for each	Summary sheet
5. safely produce a light pull of their own design	Student completed work and/or photograph(s)
6. sand and wax finish their light pull	Summary sheet
experienced 7. observing the tutor demonstrate use of the basic woodturning tools.	Summary sheet
