BODY PRESERVATION: MUMMIFICATION (UNIT 2)

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. find out about historical communities that used mummification and find two similarities and two differences between one of those communities and the ancient Egyptians

2. make a model to represent four canopic jars, using something suitable to represent the organs that would have gone into them

3. describe the purpose of natron salt in mummification

4. write a hypothesis to describe what they think will happen if they use different salt compounds to mummify an apple

5. test three different salt compounds and find out which makes the best mummified apple
