1. choose an appropriate piece of ceramic, glass, wood or watercolour paper

2. identify the particular acrylic paints or acrylic pens required for a given theme to create a composition through arranging forms and colours

3. apply the acrylic paints or acrylic pens to the work piece, using wet on wet and wet on dry to create the appropriate textures for the watercolour painting

4. produce a painting from a given theme, incorporating the key techniques and principles of paint application, elements of colour and composition

5. seal the work piece with PVA glue and let it dry overnight
