1. attend a coaching session on judging a dairy cow

2. attend an organised competition and compete in a professional manner adhering to stewards' and judges' directions

3. assess a dairy cow by looking at the following criteria, (a) general appearance (b) head and neck (c) shoulders (d) body capacity (e) hindquarters (f) udder (g) teats and teat placing (h) legs and feet

4. place four animals in order of merit, giving appropriate reasons for this selection

5. present findings to a judge in a clear and concise manner

6. answer questions from the judge and listen to their feedback
