1. plan and sequence the practical work involved in obtaining a sample of salt from rock salt

2. choose appropriate apparatus for the practical work, eg filter funnel, evaporating dish

3. obtain salt from rock salt

4. carry out the practical work with due regard to relevant safety procedures, eg wear goggles, use a water bath

5. make a sequential recording of the practical work and results.
