demonstrated the ability to

1. select the appropriate tools and materials for the task

2. establish the length of the shelf to be cut and mark off the timber accurately

3. cut the timber to length and sand the edges

4. check that the shelf is square by measuring corner to corner, or using a tri-square

5. use all equipment safely and correctly.
