BASIC SIGN LANGUAGE AND DEAF AWARENESS

Level: Entry Level

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to 1. sign the letters of the alphabet unaided	Summary sheet
2. finger spell a minimum of three words from a list	Summary sheet
3. identify three words signed to them	Summary sheet
4. ask a minimum of one question linked to set vocabulary, eg greetings and introductions, school words, communication and signing class and family	Summary sheet
shown knowledge of 5. two different communication aids used by deaf people	Student completed work
6. at least two types of hearing loss and basic areas of the ear	Student completed work
7. at least five deaf awareness issues.	Student completed work
