8. hold the knife correctly with own fingers wrapped around the handle and thumb braced on the back of the blade

9. whittle away from the body with the knife at all times

10. use the knife to whittle a shape and design similar to the initial chosen design

11. maintain a consistent focus on the task in hand

12. store the whittling knife safely in its sheath between uses

13. show awareness of own safety during this activity

14. show awareness of the safety of others during this activity

15. ensure the knife is returned to its numbered slot in the knife holder at the end of the session.
