1. select the appropriate tools for mucking out

2. clean out soiled bedding

3. dispose of soiled bedding appropriately, eg on compost/manure heap

4. renew bedding using appropriate materials, eg straw, shavings

5. check food and water supply, replenishing as necessary

6. clean tools and tidy up work area.
