CHEMISTRY: ATOMIC STRUCTURE

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to 1. label a diagram of an atom to show the location of the protons, neutrons, electrons, shells and nucleus	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
2. identify the charge and mass of the three subatomic particles	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
3. use the periodic table to identify the atomic number and mass number for an element	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
4. calculate the numbers of protons, electrons and neutrons for at least 10 elements from the first 20 in the periodic table	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
5. draw the electron configurations for at least 10 elements from the first 20 in the periodic table	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
6. write the electron configurations for at least 10 elements from the first 20 in the periodic table	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
7. make at least two links between electron configuration and an elements position in the periodic table.	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
