READING: RESPONDING TO THE THEME 'THE ISLAND'

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed

2. read at least three extracts from non-fiction diaries/logs, eg Anne Frank, Captain Scott, Lucy Irvine	Summary sheet
3. take part in a discussion on the use of language for fiction diary/log writing and make notes to record the discussion	Student completed work
4. take part in a discussion on the use of language for non-fiction diary/log writing and make notes to record the discussion	Student completed work
5. research an issue connected to survival on a remote island, eg dangerous creatures, clean water	Student completed work
6. read and follow a set of instructions, eg putting up a tent, making food, a game	Summary sheet
