In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. prepare a fire in an outdoor setting by selecting an appropriate site and collecting and sorting kindling materials:

3. manage the fire in a safe manner and explain the dangers associated with using a fire of this type

4. prepare at least two types of food to be cooked over the fire and gather appropriate equipment to use

5. cook the prepared food on the fire using the appropriate equipment

6. recognise when the food is cooked and ready to eat

7. boil water for a hot drink in a suitable container

8. put out the fire leaving no hot embers and the minimum trace that a fire has been lit
