Making a log pile for wildlife

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
experienced 1. taking part in a conversation about the importance of dead organic matter in making habitats for wildlife	Summary sheet
2. taking part in a conversation about choosing where the most sheltered spot in the garden is	Summary sheet
demonstrated the ability to 3. clear the ground of any vegetation in the chosen spot	Summary sheet
4. bury the lowest logs a few centimetres into the soil	Summary sheet
5. pile the wood on top of each other leaving gaps in between	Summary sheet
6. fill any gaps with appropriate species, ie native ferns, primroses, bluebells or crocuses.	Summary sheet
