2. tackle unknown words by making use of at least two reading strategies, eg suffixes, prefixes, grammatical knowledge, inference

4. take part in a group writing activity to summarise what happened in the beginning of the extract and explain why the events are interesting to the reader

5. highlight and summarize what happens in the middle of the extract

6. identify why the events are interesting to the reader and if anything has changed, eg the setting, language, characters

7. highlight and summarize what happens at the end of the extract
