In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. identify and locate at least three credible primary and secondary sources relevant to their chosen legend or mystery, eg historical texts, folklore collections, scholarly articles, reputable news archives

2. describe the legend or mystery’s narrative, historical background and cultural significance

3. critically evaluate the evidence supporting and/or challenging the legend or mystery, clearly differentiating between verifiable historical facts, speculative theories and purely folkloric elements

4. assess and explain the cultural, psychological and/or historical reasons for the enduring popularity of the mystery or legend and its influence on British and global culture, eg in literature, film, tourism.
