Introduction to basic brickwork skills

Level: Entry Level

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. locate the following tools and materials: bricks, a trowel, sand, lime, water, a wheelbarrow

2. wear appropraite overalls and safety boots

3. maintain a good level of personal behaviour

4. locate, carry and stack a minimum of four bricks

5. mix sand, lime and water in a given ratio to form a mortar to bond bricks together

6. dry bond a wall three stretchers long and two courses high with bricks selected by staff

7. clean the tools

8. tidy the work area after use

9. store the tools in an appropriate location.
