Which roles are right for me?

Here’s an overview of some of our senior examiner roles. Expand to learn more about each role type.

  • Leads a team of specification and sample assessment material developers.
  • Contributes to the subject assessment strategy.
  • Attends key Ofqual and stakeholder meetings.
  • Works across a qualification to ensure consistency.

Member of a team of subject experts who help produce the specification and sample assessment materials. 

  • Reviews draft assessment items and the whole assessment.
  • Advises on how the assessment aligns with the assessment strategy.
  • Supports those who are producing sample assessment materials.
  • Tests the draft whole assessment from the perspective of a learner.
  • Ensures that the assessment is complete, valid and appropriate
  • Reviews documentation to spot errors, inconsistencies and issues.
  • Can work across multiple subjects.
  • Ensures consistency in the assessment strategy across teams. This includes applying AQA house style and universal design principles for sample assessment materials.
  • Produces resource content to meet the needs of teachers and learners.
  • Can also act as a reviewer for other resources to make sure they are consistent and accurate.
