In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. follow verbal and written instructions to complete given bricklaying tasks

2. construct a brick wall of up to 16 courses that is plumb and level, has consistent mortar joints and has minimal smudging of mortar on the brick face

3. use a cement mixer safely to mix either mortar for brickwork or concrete for a foundation

4. use a lump hammer and chisel to safely and accurately cut a brick to size

5. use given tools safely, confidently and independently, including a brick trowel, pointing trowel, bucket trowel, pointing tool, string line, spirit level, shovel, lump hammer and bolster chisel
