AQA approved to deliver new vocational qualifications for launch in September 2027

Ofqual has given the green light for AQA to develop new vocational qualifications for young people aged between 16 and 19.

Working with Training Qualifications UK, which has extensive experience of providing vocational qualifications, AQA will develop new qualifications in subjects including education, early years, digital systems and data. These will be available from September 2027.

Ofqual, the exams and assessment regulator, has approved AQA's plans to develop new level 2 and 3 vocational qualifications, including V Levels, that will give young people the opportunity to learn practical skills in a wide range of industries. These qualifications will give young people greater choice, prepare them for fulfilling careers and support the country’s economic growth ambitions.

AQA is well-known for providing GCSEs and A-levels to schools and colleges. In recent years, Training Qualifications UK, Construction EPA and Realise Training Group have become a part of the AQA Group. Collectively, we support young people learn a wide range of skills including construction, customer service, gas engineering and health and social care. With our shared expertise and experience, including working with combined authorities across the country, we're well-placed to support the Government's ambitions on technical education and skills devolution.

Between now and September 2027, AQA will work closely with colleges, employers and young people themselves to help ensure they are able to take their next steps towards rewarding careers in their local communities and beyond. This week, hundreds of thousands of students received their A-level results. This time in two years, the first Foundation Certificate students will receive their results, and, in three years, the first V Level students will also be amongst them receiving their grades.
