In July 2023, we told schools and colleges that our Applied General Science (1775) and Applied General Business (1830) qualifications are coming to an end, with the last Applied Generals exams in summer 2026, and two resit opportunities in January 2027 and June 2027.
We’ve made the decision to offer our Applied General Business for a bit longer, with the following updated timelines:
- Last Certificate exams will be in summer 2026 with two resit opportunities January 2027 and June 2027
- Last Extended Certificate exams will be in summer 2027 with two resit opportunities January 2028 and June 2028
We’ve made this decision to extend our Applied General Business because there have been no AAQs developed by other exam boards. By extending this qualification for a year, it will give continuity and stability for teachers and students. For any students starting a course in September 2026, you might like to consider our redeveloped AS and A-level Business specification which will be available for first teaching from September 2026.
We’re not going to extend our Applied General Science qualification as there are other pathways available with other exam boards offering Science AAQs. The last Applied General Science exams will be in summer 2026, and two resit opportunities in January 2027 and June 2027.
