Project Q making a difference

Jen Osler, Head of Curriculum Portfolio at AQA, reflects on her time as a coordinator and supervisor running the EPQ programme and shares the transformative role Project Q can play in streamlining the EPQ and Project Qualifications, so teachers can offer the qualifications to more young people.

December marks six years since I joined AQA, straight from teaching in a secondary school and running their EPQ programme. Since joining, I’ve been singing the praises of Project Q and how fantastic it is, to say I’m delighted that we’re now able to offer Project Q free to our customers is an understatement!

I know first-hand the transformative role Project Q can play in offering EPQ and Project Qualifications to more young people in schools, and I want all learners to be given the opportunity to take these fantastic qualifications.

How Project Q can help you and your learners

Project Q provides a superb solution to the workflow challenges of these qualifications, meaning schools can offer them to more young people, enabling them to realise the benefits of the skills-based learning they offer.

No more juggling multiple drafts of emails or folder-based paperwork, chasing learners for progress updates, messy production logs and lost work. Project Q provides a real-time, web-based dashboard for coordinators, supervisors and learners, to manage all their end-to-end project work.

  • Coordinators can set up the master plan for their supervisors, courses and taught skills programme.
  • Supervisors get great oversight of their learners’ progress.
  • Learners feel empowered to project manage their own work to a successful outcome.

Streamline the EPQ with Project Q

With Project Q, learners can create and store production log entries online, meaning no more messy Microsoft Word and PDF logs. The platform allows for all project proposals and approvals to be completed transparently and centrally and you can lock learner work as it’s completed to preserve integrity. Learners can upload documentation such as source evaluations, project plans, presentation slides and of course their written reports, making lost files a thing of the past.

You can also set deadlines and report and track learner progress centrally. By using the built-in messaging system, supervisors can nudge, congratulate or agree on the next steps directly with their learners. From setting up courses and supervisory groups at the beginning of the year to hitting print on completed EPQ submissions at the end, Project Q handles it all. You’ll have more time for the important things, like great teaching and learning of research and project skills, positive and fulfilling supervision with your learners and supporting and guiding them to make the most of their EPQ experience.
