So I'm Leanne and I'm currently an AQA examiner.
I have to have my tea in the morning whilst I'm examining because it just gives me the energy that I need for the day ahead. I wanted to become an examiner so that I was able to help my students and to grow within my expertise.
My teaching is far more focused and streamlined on what do they need to know and what do they need to do to be able to achieve the best marks. You'll be introduced to a range of students' responses and that just allows you to have that national perspective.
The AQA community are such a resourceful bunch. The network is there, the support is there. Just knowing that I have those people around me makes it seem less isolating and less of an individual task.
Those days are gone where I would have hundreds of scripts over my living room floor.
We don't do that anymore. Everything is digital and AQA have really embraced that technology by allowing us to be able to now mark remotely anywhere within the EEA. You can start, you can stop.
It's something that I'm able to fit in really nicely into my everyday norms. I'm present for my family. I'm able to pursue my hobbies.
The financial aspect is definitely one of the benefits. My family live in St Lucia, so I get to visit them every year and it's because of what I earn from my marking that means that I can have a great time with my family.
It's given me confidence. I've put myself forward for things that I've never considered that I would do. I walk away from it and I'm proud of what I've achieved.
I think examining definitely has changed me as a person. It's something that I actually look forward to every year. I just have so much breadth to my expertise now and that just makes me really, really want to keep going.
