ART AND DESIGN: SKINS AND SCALES

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. study animal anatomy and features such as claws, feathers, shells and skin

2. study Cartier's flamingo brooch, Bulgari's serpent bracelet, Alexander McQueen's butterflies collection, Louis Vuitton's handbags or any other appropriate designer who has been inspired by animal skins and scales

3. produce a piece of artwork using animal anatomy, eg decorative jewellery, protective body armour using lobster, tortoise or crab shell, or prints based on the patterns on animal skins

4. working with at least one of the following areas of study: fine art, graphic communication, photography, textile design or three dimensional design.
