1. set up a DJ workstation safely, connecting the turntables to the mixer, the mixer to the amplifier and the amplifier to the speakers

2. count beats and bars when listening to music

3. identify a tune's tempo and genre

4. utilise a mixer's cuing function to create a place to practice mixing two tunes together

5. find the first beat of a first bar, known as 'the one' and count a tune's beats and drop the one in time with another first beat of a bar

6. use speeding and slowing techniques to match the tunes together, with assistance if required

7. bring in and play the two mixed tunes

8. fade a tune out over two bars to finish a mix

9. use a stop cut and spin back to finish a mix and use cutting techniques when mixing

10. request a tutor to record themselves mixing for ten minutes and request a copy of the recorded mix to be recorded to a CD

11. the five components of the basic DJ sound circuit theory, ie record, needle, mixer, amplifier, speakers

12. how to choose and mix at least three music genres

13. how to identify and adjust a record's speed using the speeding and slowing theory

15. successfully mixing music onto a recorded CD.
