Which roles are right for me?

Here’s an overview of some of our senior associate roles. Expand to learn more about each role type.

Lead Developer: Leads a team of specification and sample assessment material developers.
Contributes to the subject assessment strategy.
Attends key Ofqual and stakeholder meetings.
Works across a qualification to ensure consistency.
Developer: Supports drafting of high-quality sample assessment materials.
Revises materials based on stakeholder feedback.
Assists the development and review of resources that support the specification.
Reviser: Reviews draft assessment items and the whole assessment.
Advises on how the assessment aligns with the assessment strategy.
Supports those who are producing sample assessment materials.
Scrutineer: Tests the draft whole assessment from the perspective of a learner.
Ensures that the assessment is complete, valid and appropriate
Resource Developer: Produces resource content to meet the needs of teachers and learners.
Can also act as a reviewer for other resources to make sure they are consistent and accurate.
Reviewer: Works on a variety of materials (such as external partner content, or reviewing draft specifications against the accreditation template).
Provides feedback/amendments to make sure all materials are accurate.

Want to build your CPD and develop valuable new skills with a shorter time commitment?

Becoming an examiner is a flexible way to develop your skills, gain valuable insights into mark schemes and assessment processes and enhance your teaching. Most examiner roles are completed remotely over four to six weeks during the summer. We are currently offering positions for existing specifications, with reformed specifications to come. No previous examining experience is needed. In most cases, you'll just need three full terms of teaching experience in your subject within the last five years.

You’ll use what you know about your subject to shape how it’s assessed. Depending on the role, that might mean writing assessment materials, reviewing content or helping make sure questions are fair and clear.

Where are senior examiner roles based and how do they fit alongside my teaching role?: These roles are flexible and mostly remote, designed to fit around your teaching and other professional commitments.
