In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. describe at least two ways that pop culture and/or the media influences people's perception of animals

2. watch a popular movie featuring animal and human interaction, taking notes about important scenes that show the animal out of context, eg Jaws, The Meg, Hitchcock's The Birds

3. choose three still shots from the film that show the animal in a scientifically inaccurate way and describe those errors

4. illustrate the real-life animal in the style of a nature journal with the key features labelled to show their understanding of the animal in zoological terms

5. write a critical analysis of how the film causes the animal to be gravely misunderstood due to the depictions shown.
