DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY: A FOREIGN PLANET LANDER WITH SUPPLIES

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. research and describe at least three supplies that might need to be delivered to a human colony on a foreign planet

2. investigate and describe current lander spacecraft technology, eg a supply delivery to the International Space Station (ISS), a lunar module

3. design and make their own protective lander using a set of craft supplies

4. test their lander from a height of one, two and three metres by protecting a chosen load, eg an egg that can be broken, soft clay that can be dented
