1. recognise and correctly identify at least five common words from the NATO phonetic alphabet, eg Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo

2. explain in simple terms why the phonetic alphabet is used by the armed forces and other organisations

3. identify at least two scenarios where using the phonetic alphabet would be helpful for clear communication

4. spell out at least two short, familiar words using the corresponding phonetic alphabet words.
