Coastal topography: Concrete coasts

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will haveEvidence needed

demonstrated the ability to

1. identify and locate a stretch of UK coastline using a map or digital tool

2. add the key place names to a relief map

3. create a 3D or layered map showing the land heights, eg cliffs, hills, lowlands and sea depths for their chosen coastline

4. label at least three major landforms or coastal features on the map, eg headland, bay, spit, estuary, floodplain

5. research and show one area at risk from coastal erosion or flooding, and explain why it is at risk, eg soft rock, low-lying land, storms

6. mark where a coastal management or enhancement strategy has been used or could be used, eg groynes, managed retreat, eco-tiles and explain how it helps protect people and/or habitats
