AQA Vision 2030 Seminar Series

The AQA Vision 2030 Seminar Series brings together assessment researchers, school and college leaders, education professionals and learners to explore the future of assessment through rigorous evidence and professional insight.
The series is hosted by AQA, in collaboration with academic and practitioner partners. The focus is on key issues shaping assessment, including validity, inclusion, assessment literacy, data use and emerging innovations.
Engaging with themes of international relevance, the seminars connect research with practice to support informed dialogue across education systems.

Overview
As AI becomes increasingly capable, the challenge isn't simply what the technology can do, but how it can support assessment without undermining the human expertise, accountability and trust on which good assessment depends.
This session will examine emerging research into AI-enabled assessment, with a particular focus on human judgement, human-computer interaction and responsible innovation. Exploring the evolving relationship between assessors and intelligent systems, we will consider questions of trust calibration, transparency, fairness and ethical governance.
The discussion will examine how AI can support assessment innovation while ensuring that human expertise remains central to decisions about student achievement and progression.

Most educators are on familiar ground when it comes to summative exams, but formative assessment, diagnostic tools, and the feedback that connects these to real learning gains can call for a different kind of expertise. This is why assessment literacy is becoming increasingly critical for leaders, researchers, and practitioners alike.
Our panel discussion brought together experts from research and practice to discuss what building assessment literacy could look like and how to translate assessment literacy into better outcomes for students.
