How to change Centre Services multi-factor authentication (MFA) to an MFA app

When logging in to Centre Services, we know that some centres find it difficult to receive their MFA codes if the phone signal in their area is poor.

To fix this, you can now use an MFA app:

Step 1: request the change

  1. Email eos@aqa.org.uk and ask to change your Centre Services MFA to the authenticator app, giving the reasons for the request, e.g. poor phone signal. This email must be sent from the email address that you use for logging in to your Centre Services account.
  2. In the email include your name, centre number, and the phone number that you use for receiving the MFA code.
  3. You will receive an email from our Customer Services team acknowledging your request and asking for more information if they need it.

Step 2: verification

  1. Our Customer Services team will email your Head of Centre, requesting approval to go ahead with the change. We recommend you make sure your Head of Centre is aware of your request so they can action the email when they receive it.
  2. Once we have approval from the Head of Centre, the change to the authenticator app can be processed. This may take up to two working days.

Step 3: change to MFA app made

  1. We’ll email you to confirm that the authentication method used on your account has been updated.
  2. Make sure you have an authenticator app, such as this one available from Microsoft, installed and ready to use.
  3. Next time you login to your Centre Services account, there will be a QR code on the screen that you scan using your authenticator app to allow it to generate login codes for your account.
